چکیده
Abstract As the initial study related to carbonaceous components in Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, total suspended particulate matter (TSP) was collected roadside environments Makassar city, Indonesia. The mean TSP level this higher than National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) of Indonesia and much World Health Organization (WHO) standards. It ranged from 21.6 838.6 μg/m 3 . lowest concentration found during rainy days paved site. highest all sites rush morning late noon hour. is movement citizens those periods time. Regardless times sampling, organic carbon (OC) main fraction (TC) for around 62.2 – 84.0%. OC EC had well correlation indicating both were emitted common sources. might be traffic emission as seen greater between soot-EC vs. char-EC. Hence, exhaust emissions non-exhaust vehicles should two sources its environment

Malaria in North Sulawesi, Indonesia
The incidence and impact of malaria in North Sulawesi have declined both in the short term during the 1990s, and over a much longer timespan (though perhaps less continuously) since the end of the colonial period. The improvement already seems to have been well underway before deliberate vector control activities became extensive in the second half of the 1970s, and environmental changes affect...
متن کاملComparison of measured total suspended particulate matter concentrations using tapered element oscillating microbalance and a total suspended particulate sampler.
A comparison of the concentration of the total suspended particulate (TSP) matter measured by the tapered element oscillating microbalance (TEOM) monitor and the isokinetic TSP samplers developed at the University of Illinois was carried out in several types of confinement livestock buildings. In a majority of the measurements done, the dust concentration measured by the TEOM monitor was lower ...
متن کاملSpeciation patterns and processes in the zooplankton of the ancient lakes of Sulawesi Island, Indonesia
Although studies of ancient lake fauna have provided important insights about speciation patterns and processes of organisms in heterogeneous benthic environments, evolutionary forces responsible for speciation in the relatively homogenous planktonic environment remain largely unexplored. In this study, we investigate possible mechanisms of speciation in zooplankton using the freshwater diaptom...
متن کاملTotal suspended particulate matter and daily mortality in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Recent studies have associated particulate air pollution with daily mortality in a number of U.S. communities. This study sought to replicate those analyses in Cincinnati, Ohio, and to test the strength of the association to the deletion of days with extreme weather conditions and to sensitivity analyses in the analytical approach. This study demonstrates the use of graphical diagnostic procedu...
متن کاملThe Makassar Strait Tsunamigenic Region, Indonesia
The Makassar Strait region has had the highest frequency of historical tsunami events for Indonesia. The strait has a seismic activity due to the convergence of four tectonic plates that produces a complex mixture of structures. The main tsunamigenic features in the Makassar Strait are the Palu-Koro and Pasternoster transform fault zones, which form the boundaries of the Makassar trough. Analys...
