چکیده

Carbide precipitation in martensitic low alloyed steels contributes to the mechanical properties through hardening. A high number density of carbides is desired maximize hardening effect, which achieved on dislocations structure. In this study, nucleation, growth, and coarsening vanadium molybdenum during aging at 600 °C for periods up four weeks were investigated. The work covers characterization with atom probe tomography, showed that nucleation V Mo rich MC/M2C takes place dislocations. growth these proceeds by diffusion elements dislocations, has been modeled using Dictra software, confirming rate reaction as well depletion carbide formers matrix. For longer times, particle will decrease particles a transition from dislocation-based separate rounded carbides.

Precipitation sequence in niobium-alloyed ferritic stainless steel

Niobium is an important alloying element in the design of heat-resistant ferritic stainless steels for automotive exhaust systems. When in solid solution, it improves both the high temperature strength and the resistance to thermal fatigue. However, it also forms several kinds of precipitates during service. These reactions have been modelled, taking into account the multicomponent nature of th...

Atom probe tomography in nanoelectronics

The role of laser assisted atom probe tomography (APT) in microelectronics is discussed on the basis of various illustrations related to SiGe epitaxial layers, bipolar transistors or MOS nano-devices including gate all around (GAA) devices that were carried out at the Groupe de Physique des Matériaux of Rouen (France). 3D maps as provided by APT reveal the atomic-scale distribution of dopants a...

Pulsed-laser atom probe studies of a precipitation hardened maraging TRIP steel.

A precipitation hardened maraging TRIP steel was analyzed using a pulsed laser atom probe. The laser pulse energy was varied from 0.3 to 1.9 nJ to study its effect on the measured chemical compositions and spatial resolution. Compositional analyses using proximity histograms did not show any significant variations in the average matrix and precipitate compositions. The only remarkable change in...

Comparison of compositional and morphological atom-probe tomography analyses for a multicomponent Fe-Cu steel.

A multicomponent Fe-Cu based steel is studied using atom-probe tomography. The precipitates are identified using two different methodologies and subsequent morphological and compositional results are compared. The precipitates are first identified using a maximum separation distance algorithm, the envelope method, and then by a concentration threshold method, an isoconcentration surface. We dis...
