Capacitor Lifetime Extension in a Hybrid Active Neutral-Point-Clamped Inverter With Reduction of DC-Link Ripple Current and Common-Mode Voltage

This paper proposes a reduction method for DC-link ripple current and common-mode voltage (CMV) in hybrid active neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) inverter. A Si SiC ANPC inverter has been developed recently to overcome the extremely high cost of full-SiC requires much fewer MOSFETs than while providing comparable power density. Voltage source inverters such as utilize electrolytic capacitors, which have large capacitance per volume, DC link. However, an capacitor is one most vulnerable components electronic converter due its small allowable current. flowing into generates heat loss, shortens lifetime capacitor. Furthermore, causes undesirable leakage electromagnetic interference. The CMV depends on pulse-width modulation inverters. proposed enhances reliability by reducing simultaneously. effectiveness validity are verified through simulations experimental results.
