Canine trypanosomosis: a case report

Trypanosomosis is a haemoprotozoan infection affecting broad range of wild and domestic animals including dogs. Infected dogs may die within 2-4 weeks in the acute fatal form disease. A dog was presented with complaint anorexia, persistent recumbency loss body weight which lasted for few days. On clinical examination, affected revealed rise temperature (105°F), lachrimation, anaemia, unilateral corneal opacity, swelling throat, enlargement lymph nodes severe bodily condition. Wet smear, thin blood smear hematological parameters were observed. Motile trypanosomes found wet while characteristic flagellum, kinetoplast undulating membrane present outside red cells smear. The successfully recovered single dose diminazene aceturate. This report provide way forward to establish effective safe therapeutic protocols control canine trypanosomosis.
