چکیده
As a perennial xerophytic shrub, characterized by plesiomorphic features, the caper (Capparis spinosa L.) is naturally spread throughout Mediterranean basin and occupies an important ecological role, as well economic one, in traditional specialized systems for commercial production. This species, spite of its wide diffusion, currently considered at risk genetic erosion, mainly due to overgrazing overharvesting domestic uses trade. situation made more serious because lack efficient propagation techniques, determining “difficult-to-propagate species”. In this review, we report main available sexual vegetative techniques with aim assessing whether, what extent, criticality still true horticultural crop. terms seed propagation, germination rates have generally been quite low or unsatisfactory, are also affected hybridization phenomena that likely occur among both wild cultivated forms. The seeds show physiological dormancy can be lowered adopting hormonal treatments, but situ remains critical phase. Vegetative appears effective, mostly related vitro allow cultivation no longer dissemination species intensive orchards. research needs Caper L. crop, especially field improvement breeding, underlined.

Isolation and characterization of a lectin with potentially exploitable activities from caper (Capparis spinosa) seeds.
A dimeric 62-kDa lectin exhibiting a novel N-terminal amino acid sequence was purified from caper (Capparis spinosa) seeds. The purification protocol involved anion-exchange chromatography, cation-exchange chromatography and, finally, gel filtration by FPLC on Superdex 75. Approx. 100-fold purification was achieved. The haemagglutinating activity of the lectin, which was stable in the pH range ...

An increasing body of evidence on the association between adherence to the Mediterranean diet and healthy status is being accumulated. Floral buds of Capparis spinosa L. are commonly used in the Mediterranean cuisine as flavoring for meat and other foods. The present study evaluated bioactive components and antioxidant activity of Sicilian capers stabilized in salt. Whereas alpha-tocopherol was...

In order to investigate the effect of drought and salinity stress on caper plant (Capparis spinosa), a factorial experiment including two factors consisting of drought and salinity levels based on randomized complete block design (RCBD) with five blocks were carried out at College of Agriculture, Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran. After pretreatment, seeds were germinated in petri dishes and then...
متن کاملHCV infected prisoners: should they be still considered a difficult to treat population?
BACKGROUND The prevalence of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in the Italian correctional population is estimated to be around 38%. In this setting HCV infection treatment is controversial because of several factors such as active drug substance abuse, psychiatric illness, length of treatment, risk of re-infection, poor adherence and low success rate. METHODS A retrospective data rev...
