CALLIOPE: Pseudospectral Shearing Magnetohydrodynamics Code with a Pencil Decomposition

نویسندگان

چکیده

The pseudospectral method is a highly accurate numerical scheme suitable for turbulence simulations. We have developed an open-source code, \textsc{\textsf{Calliope}}, which adopts the P3DFFT library \citep{Pekurovsky2012} to perform fast Fourier transform with two-dimensional (pencil) decomposition of grids. \textsc{\textsf{Calliope}} can solve incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), isothermal compressible MHD, and rotational reduced MHD parallel computation using very large numbers cores ($> 10^5$ $2048^3$ grids). code also local magnetorotational in shearing frame remapping \citep{Rogallo1981,Umurhan2004}. currently only that compute pencil-domain decomposition. This paper presents results linear nonlinear tests, including largest grid number reported date.

CosmoMHD: A Cosmological Magnetohydrodynamics Code

In this era of precision cosmology, a detailed physical understanding on the evolution of cosmic baryons is required. Cosmic magnetic fields, though still poorly understood, may represent an important component in the global cosmic energy flow that affects the baryon dynamics. We have developed an Eulerianbased cosmological magnetohydrodynamics code (CosmoMHD) with modern shock capturing scheme...

Scaling the SIESTA magnetohydrodynamics equilibrium code

We report the results of a scaling effort that increases both the speed and resolution of the SIESTA magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium code. SIESTA is capable of computing three-dimensional plasma equilibria with magnetic islands at high spatial resolutions for toroidally confined plasmas. Starting with a small-scale parallel implementation, we identified scale-dependent bottlenecks of the code a...

A 3D spectral anelastic hydrodynamic code for shearing, stratified flows

We have developed a three-dimensional (3D) spectral hydrodynamic code to study vortex dynamics in rotating, shearing, stratified systems (e.g., the atmosphere of gas giant planets, protoplanetary disks around newly forming protostars). The timeindependent background state is stably stratified in the vertical direction and has a unidirectional linear shear flow aligned with one horizontal axis. ...

RAISHIN: A High-Resolution Three-Dimensional General Relativistic Magnetohydrodynamics Code

We have developed a new three-dimensional general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (GRMHD) code, RAISHIN, using a conservative, high resolution shock-capturing scheme. The numerical fluxes are calculated using the Harten, Lax, & van Leer (HLL) approximate Riemann solver scheme. The fluxinterpolated, constrained transport scheme is used to maintain a divergence-free magnetic field. In order to e...

MAGMA: a 3D, Lagrangian magnetohydrodynamics code for merger applications

We present a new, completely Lagrangian magnetohydrodynamics code that is based on the SPH method. The equations of self-gravitating hydrodynamics are derived self-consistently from a Lagrangian and account for variable smoothing length (“grad-h”-) terms in both the hydrodynamic and the gravitational acceleration equations. The evolution of the magnetic field is formulated in terms of so-called...
