Calendar Aging of Li-Ion Cells—Experimental Investigation and Empirical Correlation

چکیده
The lifetime of the battery significantly influences acceptance electric vehicles. Calendar aging contributes to limited operating lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, its consideration in addition cyclical is essential understand degradation. This study consequently examines same graphite/NCA pouch cell that was subject previously published cyclic tests. cells were aged at different temperatures and states charge. self-discharge continuously monitored, after each storage period, remaining capacity impedance measured. focus this publication on correlation measurements. An obtained valid for a wide range results show an accelerated fade rise with increasing temperature, following law Arrhenius. However, data do also indicate there no path dependency, i.e., earlier periods temperature levels not affect present degradation rate. A large impact state charge 100% evident, whereas influence small below 80%. Instead commonly applied square root time function, our are excellent agreement exponential function.

Calendar life study of Li-ion pouch cells
A calendar life study was conducted on lithium ion pouch cells which were stored under float charge condition at five temperatures. The half ell study showed that the anode experienced severe loss of the active material, especially at high temperatures. The capacity fade mechanisms ere then proposed. The capacity fade at low temperatures could mostly be caused by the loss of lithium inventory t...
متن کاملCalendar life study of Li-ion pouch cells Part 2: Simulation
The low rate (C/33) discharge data obtained from a calendar life study were numerically analyzed with a single particle model. The simulation howed that the stoichiometric window for the cathode shrank with capacity fade. The change of the stoichiometric window for the anode was ore complicated. The aged anode became less charged when the capacity fade was caused mostly by the loss of cyclable ...
متن کاملInvestigation of particle isolation in Li-ion battery electrodes using Li NMR spectroscopy
Li MAS NMR spectroscopy was used to study the failure mechanisms of LiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2 electrodes in Li-ion cells. Three sets of electrodes with different degrees of power fade (0%, 9% and 23%) were studied. The three electrodes were charged to various states of charge (0%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%) in pouch cells which were subsequently disassembled for NMR analysis. The lithium NMR shifts of...

Calendar aging of a graphite/LiFePO4 cell
Graphite/LFP commercial cells are stored under 3 different conditions of temperature (30°C, 45°C, and 60°C) and SOC (30, 65, and 100%) during up to 8 months. Several non-destructive electrochemical tests are performed at different storage times in order to understand calendar aging phenomena. After storage, all the cells except those stored at 30°C exhibited capacity fade. The extent of capacit...
