Calcium sulfate and calcium carbonate as root-knot-nematode attractants and possible trap materials to protect crop plants

چکیده
Root-knot nematodes (RKNs, genus Meloidogyne) are a class of plant parasites that seek out and infect the roots many species. The identification RKN attractants can be used in agriculture conjunction with nematode-trapping technology to redirect movements eventually reduce their prevalence field. Here, we discovered some commercial silica gels attract nematodes. Silica contain calcium sulfate. Calcium sulfate carbonate showed strong nematode attraction properties. When seeds were surrounded by or carbonate, not attracted seeds. We propose as novel material trap RKN.

Calcium Acetate Versus Calcium Carbonate as Oral Phosphate Binder: Preparation and In Vitro Assessment
Calcium acetate is used as an oral phosphate binder to control hyperphosphatemia in patients with chronic renal failure. Compared to calcium carbonate, control of hyperphosphatemia can be achieved at lower calcium administration with calcium acetate which likely reduces the risk of hypercalcemia. In this study, various formulations of calcium acetate tablets were prepared and their disint...
متن کاملAvailability of calcium from skim milk, calcium sulfate and calcium carbonate for bone mineralization in pigs.
Dairy products provide abundant, accessible calcium for humans, while some calcium sulfate-rich mineral waters could provide appreciable amounts of calcium. But there is little evidence that this calcium is as available as milk calcium for making bone. The availability of calcium was studied by monitoring bone parameters in 2-month-old pigs fed restricted amounts of calcium (70% RDA) for 2.5 mo...
متن کاملGreen Nanoparticles Engineering on Root-knot Nematode Infecting Eggplant plants and Their Effect on Plant DNA Modification
Background: Root-knot nematodes are known to cause significant damage to eggplants. New approaches by green silver nanoparticles (GSN) are used to control plant-parasitic nematode to avoid chemical nematicide hazards. Objectives: Analyses of the incorporation of different concentrations of nanoparticles on two different algae (Ulva lactuca and Turbinaria turbinata) were carried out. Fureth...
متن کاملNonfumigant Nematicides for Control of Root-knot Nematode to Protect Carrot Root Growth in Organic Soils.
Greenhouse tests were conducted to determine the effects of two kinds of Meloidogyne hapla inoculum on the growth and quality of carrot roots, and the protection afforded in each case by nonfumigant nematicides in organic soils. For all treatments the percentage of carrots damaged was greater with larvae alone as inoculum than with larvae and eggs, indicating that most of the damage occurs earl...
