CAD-Based Robot Programming Solution for Wire Harness Manufacturing in Aeronautic Sector

Wire harness manufacturing in the aeronautic sector is highly manual work, with production defined by multiple references and small batches. Although complete automation of process not feasible, a robot-assisted approach could increase efficiency existing means. This paper presents novel dual-arm robotic solution for workbench configuration cable routing during initial steps wire manufacturing. Based on CAD information harness, proposed framework generates trajectories real-time to tasks, dividing automatically whole job between both robots. The presented has been validated environment using different references, obtaining promising results metrics.
