چکیده

A study of butterfly species diversity was conducted in Chemerong Amenity Forest, Terengganu, Malaysia. total 939 individuals from 198 were obtained using fruit-baited sweep nets and modified VanSomeren-Rydon cylinder traps. The biodiversity butterflies the area considered high, with a Shannon index (H’) 4.1, Simpson’s (DSimpson) 0.042, Margalef (IMargalef) 28.78. Individuals within community not evenly distributed among (EShannon= 0776). Nymphalidae found to be most dominant family (48.5%), Lexias dirtea merguia abundant recorded 114 (12%). From eight protected under Malaysia legislation, one Trogonoptera brookiana also listed CITES Appendix II, while only Agatasa calydonia (the brush-footed or four-footed) rare. Other rare this included Arhopala lucida, Curetis saronis sumatrana, Miletus nymphis fictus Lycaenidae blues, coppers, & hairstreaks), Amathusia perakana perakana, Bassarona teuta goodrichi, Elymnias saueri saueri, nesaea, Mycalesis horsfieldi hermana, distanti, Ypthima pandocus tahanensis four-footed), Celaenorrhinus ladana, Erionota sybirita, Matapa aria, cresta, druna, Pseudokerana fulger, Taractrocera ardonia, luzonensis, Telicota linna, Unkana mytheca Hesperiidae skippers). dominance may due several factors, including high diversity, widespread distribution occurrence, as well type bait used study. Besides Genting Highlands Taman Negara Johor Endau Rompin, at Forest are more diverse than other sites such Gunung Serambu, Ulu Gombak Reserve, Setiu Wetlands, Kuala Lompat, Bukit Hampuan Sungai Imbak Tabin Wildlife Senagang Substation. Further investigation aspects stratification patterns, host plants forest dwelling recommended for better understanding communities Forest.

Accumulation of lead and copper in Rhizophora apiculata from Setiu mangrove forest, Terengganu, Malaysia.

The accumulative partitioning of Pb and Cu in the Rhizophora apiculata was studied randomly in the Setiu mangrove forest, Terengganu. Samples of leaves, barks and roots were collected randomly from the selected studied species. Sediments between the roots of the sampled mangrove plants were also collected. The results from analysis for Rhizophora apiculata shows that the concentration of Pb and...

Sediment Characteristic Studies in the Surface Sediment from Kemaman Mangrove Forest, Terengganu, Malaysia

43 surface sediment samples from Kemaman mangrove forest, Terengganu were analyzed for sediment characteristic (mean, sorting and skewness) off two seasons (dry season and wet season) by using the Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) after digest the sample with Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) and Hydrochloric Acid (HCl). There is a significant (P<0.05) relationship between sediment characteristic with the se...

The Forest Rotation Problem with Stochastic Harvest and Amenity Value

We present a general approach to study optimal rotation policy with amenity valuation under stochastic forest stand value. We state a set of weak conditions under which a unique optimal harvesting threshold exists and derive the value of the optimal policy. We characterize the impact of forest stand value volatility on both the total and the marginal expected cumulative present value of the rev...

Optimal Forest Taxation under Private and Social Amenity Valuation***

This paper analyzes socially optimal forest taxation when the government has a binding tax revenue requirement. In the Faustmann model the optimal design of forest taxation consists of non-distortionary taxes, such as site productivity tax, site value tax or profit tax. A combination of distortionary unit (or yield) tax and timber tax can also be used to collect the tax revenue in a non-distort...

Fruit-feeding Butterfly Communities of Forest ‘islands’ in Ghana: Survey Completeness and Correlates of Spatial Diversity

We conducted a year long survey of the fruit-feeding butterfly fauna of sacred forest groves and forest reserves of Ghana. About one-third of all fruit-feeding species recorded for Ghana were trapped, but our total sample had not yet reached the point of species saturation. Rarefied species richness was higher in the larger forest reserves than in the small sacred groves, as predicted by specie...
