Business process modeling language selection for research modelers

Abstract Business process modeling is a crucial aspect of domains such as Process Management and Software Engineering. The availability various BPM languages in the market makes it challenging for modelers to select best-fit language specific task. A decision model necessary systematically capture make scattered knowledge on available reuse by academics. This paper presents selection problem research projects. contains mappings 72 features 23 languages. We validated refined through 10 expert interviews with domain experts from organizations. evaluated efficiency, validity, generality conducting four case studies academic projects their original researchers. results confirmed that supports providing more insights into process. Based empirical evidence feedback, we conclude having readily academics making informed decisions align preferences prioritized requirements.
