Burn Guidelines—An International Comparison

Burn injuries can be life-threatening, thus standardized procedures are essential to ensure the best medical care is provided after injury. Therefore, burn guidelines were created throughout world. There many similarities within different guidelines, especially in basic procedures. Taking a closer look, it becomes clear that there also lot of disparities guidelines. In this review German Society Treatment (DGV), British Association (BBA), European Burns (EBA), American (ABA), Australian and New Zealand (ANZBA), International for Injuries (ISBI) compared. The DGV-guidelines focus on pre-hospital treatment measures, intensive acute wound therapy, whereas BBA puts emphasis infrastructure staff qualification. EBA practitioners non-medical standardize countries with special recommendations infrastructural facilities. ABA underlines need qualified ABLS- (Advanced Life Support) standards. ANZBA focuses options including novel healing biotechnologies post-burn return-to-function rehabilitation. contrast all other ISBI does not only deal developed but resource-limited settings. Special lies discussion ethical issues cost-effectiveness. review, advantages disadvantages each guideline discussed. These findings supposed help improving worldwide.
