Burkholderia cepacia BAM-12 isolated from mungbean field in Rajasthan augments plant growth in agricultural field soil of Gujarat, India

Application of exotic bacterial strains as biofertilizer has always posed a constraint in the success technology. Only limited number biofertilizers with applicability wide range soil conditions is available market. Pseudomonas cepacia BAM-12 (MTCC No. 7100) (now known Burkholderia cepacia), an isolate from mungbean rhizosphere agricultural field Rajasthan shown remarkable plant growth promotion Gujarat soil. B. was found to increase overall 3 agriculturally important plants widely grown region, viz., mungbean, maize and rice. Increased assessed on basis increased leaf area, biomass, chlorophyll content, profuse adventitious root branching, nodulation (in only), high P treated plants. Vital factor towards amount IAA secreted by organism (i.e. 2.65 mg IAA/100 ml culture filtrate) which reasonably comparison earlier reports available. Furthermore, PSB also demonstrated bioremediation potential against harmful heavy metals such copper, lead, nickel arsenic tolerating upto 25 mM indicating it’s prospective remediating metal contaminated fields.
