Built-up edge formation mechanisms in orthogonal cutting of wood-plastic composite

This project aims to improve the machinability of wood-plastic composites by understanding chip and built-up edge formation, so as help manufacturers optimize cutting performance product quality. Chip formation were studied during orthogonal wood polyethylene composite with cemented carbide cutters under different conditions. During process, segmental, ribbon, element chips generated. The depth was found have a great impact on types that formed. Additionally, machining, debris only attaching tool's rake face due thermo-mechanical coupling. Such edges hinder stability surface Furthermore, variations in accumulation corresponded changes force temperature. In fact, both temperature proved be inversely related angle positively correlated speed depth. Therefore, achieve better quality for composites, larger reduced are recommended because they reduce edge.
