Building on Foundations: Venetoclax-Based Combinations in the Treatment of Acute Myeloid Leukemia
نویسندگان
چکیده
Frontline acute myeloid leukemia (AML) treatment is determined by a combination of patient and genetic factors. This includes fitness (i.e., comorbidities that increase the risk treatment-related mortality) characteristics, including cytogenetic events gene mutations. In older unfit patients, standard care typically venetoclax (VEN) combined with hypomethylating agents (HMA). Recently, several drugs have been developed targeting specific genomic subgroups AML enabling individualized therapy. has resulted in investigations doublet triplet combinations incorporating VEN aimed at overcoming known resistance mechanisms improving outcomes patients AML. These include isocitrate dehydrogenase-1/2 (IDH1/2) inhibitors ivosidenib enasidenib), fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) gilteritinib), anti-CD47 antibodies magrolimab), mouse double minute-2 (MDM2) inhibitors, p53 reactivators eprenetapopt). review summarizes ongoing trials beyond observed HMA +

Combined venetoclax and alvocidib in acute myeloid leukemia
More effective treatment options for elderly acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients are needed as only 25-50% of patients respond to standard-of-care therapies, response duration is typically short, and disease progression is inevitable even with some novel therapies and ongoing clinical trials. Anti-apoptotic BCL-2 family inhibitors, such as venetoclax, are promising therapies for AML. Nonethel...
متن کاملThe role of microRNA in acute/chronic, myeloid/lymphocytic leukemia
MicroRNAs are small, non-coding sequences that regulate gene expression by inducing degradation or translational inhibition of target mRNAs. These molecules control many intracellular physiological and pathological processes.Abnormal expression of these moleculs has been described in different cancers including hematopoietic cancers. According to the type of cancer and the stage, miRNA’s expres...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of Bilateral Pulmonary Hydatic Cysts in a Child with Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Few data are available about hydatid cysts in patients with malignancy; however, these have rarely been described in association with leukemia. The purpose of this report was to present an unusual case of coexisting leukemia and pulmonary hydatid cysts. This study presented a 13-year-old boy with acute myeloid leukemia who was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary hydatid cysts after the completion...
