Brote de rabia paresiante bovina en la región libre de enfermedad en la Argentina

We report an outbreak of bovine paralytic rabies in a feed lot disease-free area southern Santa Fe, Argentina. Six 122 unvaccinated steers died after showing neurological signs (morbimortality = 4.9%) for 24-72 hours, 40-75 days being transported to the from farm located Formosa. Pathologic examination brain 3 revealed gliosis, lymphoplasmacytic meningoencephalitis, and intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies neurons, along with intralesional detection virus antigen by immunohistochemistry 2 cases. Rabies was confirmed direct immunofluorescence brain, further identified as variant 3a, typical hematogenous bats, inoculation mice followed indirect immunofluorescence. This represents first communication described Pampas plain Argentina, evidences that transport cattle endemic areas could represent mechanism dissemination this communicable zoonotic disease.
