Abstract In recent years, archaeological studies of long-term change and transformation in the human past have often been dominated by discussion dichotomous processes ‘collapse’ ‘resilience’. These discussions are frequently framed relatively narrow terms dictated specialist interests that place an emphasis on role single ‘trigger’ factors as motors for historic change. order to address this issue, article I propose study ‘shatter zone’—a term with origins physical geography geopolitics has more recently harnessed anthropological research—has potential facilitate multi-scalar, interdisciplinary analyses ways which major historical changes unfold across both space time, at local, regional, inter-regional levels. An Archaeology of Sexualities within Colonial Worlds
Although archaeological studies of the historic past have long explored the dynamics of European colonialism, broader issues of sexuality, embodiment, commemoration, reproduction, and sensuality have only recently become acknowledged as essential components of the “imperial project.” How can we better appreciate the material implications of human sexuality when we come to interpret these comple...
متن کاملThe Broken Past: Fractals in Archaeology
Many archaeological patterns are fractal. Fractal analysis, therefore, has much to contribute to archaeology. This article offers an introduction to fractal analysis for archaeologists. We explain what fractals are, describe the essential methods of fractal analysis, and present archaeological examples. Some examples have been published previously, while others are presented here for the first ...

Mobility patterns play significant roles in structuring the hunter-gatherer archaeological record; mobility patterns are strongly determined by a few environmental variables and human population densities (Binford, American Antiquity 45:4-20; Binford Gonstructing Era...
متن کاملTowards Lunar Archaeology
Our Moon is a potential indicator of a possible alien presence near the Earth at some time during the past 4 billion years. To ascertain the presence of alien artifacts, a survey for ruinlike formations on the Moon has been carried out as a precursor to lunar archaeology. Computer algorithms for semi-automatic, archaeological photo-reconnaissance are discussed. About 80,000 Clementine lunar orb...
