Breeding Ecology and Nest- Site Selection of Turtle Doves (Streptopelia turtur) in Three New Orchard Habitats

نویسندگان

چکیده

The main aim of our work was to investigate the breeding parameters in three orchard types Algeria (apple, cherry and nectarine) for better conservation existing species. A total 149 active Turtle dove nests were monitored these man–made agro-systems. Egg laying occurred from early May continued until mid-August. started later trees stopped earlier nectarines. Nest density higher apple orchards. Nests located nectarine. Clutch size similar among types. Northeast dominant orientation all Breeding success than that recorded former studies. Desertion cause nest failure. orchards are preferred area turtle this region.

Nest-site selection and productivity of Vesper Sparrows breeding in grazed habitats

Livestock grazing in the shortgrass steppe of the Intermountain region of British Columbia may have a negative impact on ground-nesting birds, but evidence of such an impact is lacking. We examined nestsite selection and productivity of ground-nesting Vesper Sparrows (Pooecetes gramineus) across sites with different grazing histories. From 2006 to 2008, we monitored Vesper Sparrow nests and mea...

Breeding Ecology and Nest-site Selection of Song Wrens in Central Panama

•We describe nest-site selection and report measures of breeding productivity from a population of Song Wrens {Cyphorhinus phaeocephalus) in central Panama. We studied 31 pairs from 1995 to 1998 and collected data on nest prédation from 1996 to 1998. Song Wrens are year-round residents that build breeding nests for reproduction and dormitory nests for roosting. Twenty-five of 50 Song Wren breed...

Nest and nest-site reuse within and between breeding seasons by three neotropical flycatchers (Tyrannidae).

Nest and or nest site reuse within and between breeding seasons was reported by the Euler's Flycatcher (Lathrotriccus euleri), the Sepia-capped Flycatcher (Leptopogon amaurocephalus) and the Gray-hooded Flycatcher (Mionectes -rufiventris) in forest fragments from southeastern Brazil. Nest and or nest site reuse between some years was frequent within a single breeding season by the Sepia-capped ...

Migration Routes and Staging Areas of Trans-Saharan Turtle Doves Appraised from Light-Level Geolocators

The identification of migration routes, wintering grounds and stopover sites are crucial issues for the understanding of the Palearctic-African bird migration system as well as for the development of relevant conservation strategies for trans-Saharan migrants. Using miniaturized light-level geolocators we report a comprehensive and detailed year round track of a granivorous trans-Saharan migran...

The rapid spread of invasive Eurasian Collared Doves Streptopelia decaocto in the continental USA follows humanaltered habitats

Understanding factors related to the range expansion trajectory of a successful invasive species may provide insights into environmental variables that favour additional expansion or guide monitoring and survey efforts for this and other invasive species. We examined the relationship of presence and abundance of Eurasian Collared Doves Streptopelia decaocto to environmental factors using recent...
