چکیده

Aim: In this study, we aimed to investigate the etiological factors, electroencephalographic (EEG) findings, rates of response iron therapy, and factors affecting therapy in children diagnosed with breath-holding spells (BHS). Methods: The study included 136 aged 1 48 months who received after a BHS diagnosis at our pediatric neurology clinic between November 2015 No¬vember 2019. Patient medical records (physical examination, laboratory EEG history, effectiveness therapy) were reviewed retrospectively. Results: Of all patents, 81 (59.6%) exhibited partial (partial remission) (50% decrease frequency), 52 (39%) responded completely (complete remission), 2 unresponsive. Comparison patients complete remission revealed higher rate girls. addition, had levels hemoglobin, MCV, ferritin than those remission. Complete also normal findings. Conclusion: childhood is benign, recurring, non-epileptic disorder its differentiation from epilepsy important. Children respond well which can be recommended even if serum are normal.

Breath holding spells in 91 children and response to treatment with iron.

To evaluate the prognosis of breath holding spells (BHS) after iron treatment, 91 children (56 boys, 35 girls) aged between 6 months and 40 months (median, 17) were followed prospectively for a median of 45 months (range, 6-89). In 49 of the children, the frequency of BHS was less than 10 each month, in 22 it was 10-30 each month, and in 20 more than 30 each month. The spells were cyanotic in 6...
