چکیده

Abstract One outcrop of the NE–SW-trending fault with a steep occurrence and grown gouge was discovered in north segment Tangshan zone during field survey near Jujialing village on Kaiping-Guye boundary Hebei province, North China. This has received less attention seismic geologic surveys. In addition, three neighboring parallel NE trending scarps heights range 1–1.5 m were generally flat terrain close to outcrop. The geochemical multi-electrode resistivity surveys revealed sudden huge fluctuations Hg concentration within short distances from surface scarps. also structure extreme horizontal discontinuity, indicating presence subsurface width 40–50 SE dip. finding confirmed that late Quaternary Following an examination focal mechanism solutions findings, it is suggested newly detected toward northeast could be unexplored branch flower northern section zone. It marked by recent activity mainly controlled right-lateral strike-slip. discovery this active critical for accurate assessment hazard

Analysis of Location of Villages in Relation to Rupture Zone (Case Study: North Qazvin Fault)

This paper studies the shear zone of North Qazvin fault and investigates the location of rural settlements in this area. In selected sections, the presence of transverse valleys along the fault made it possible to investigate the evidence of shear zones in which we can see severe crushing in igneous rocks of andesitic and trachyandesitic type, and cataclastic. Moreover, traces of faulted and fr...

Detection of fault segments based on P–T dihedra analysis along the North Tabriz fault, NW Iran

Detection of fault segments is an essential step for tracking main transverse faults. General observations from field studies as well as attitude measurements can give an overall understanding of the lengths of the segments, but these are not always sufficient to accurately identify and characterize them. In this study, we analyze P–T dihedra variations based on their eigenvalues to detect faul...

A comparison between the Kazerun (Iran) and the North Anatolian (Turkey) fault systems in fault interaction and seismicity migration based on the spatiotemporal analysis of earthquakes

The Kazerun Fault System (KFS) is a right-lateral strike slip fault system in the middle part of the Zagros seismogenic zone in Iran. Historical and instrumental earthquake data catalogs of this fault system show good evidence of fault interactions and seismic migrations. This study provides evidence for the migration of seismicity in the middle part of the Zagros region along the segments of t...

Continuity of subsurface fault structure revealed by gravity anomaly: the eastern boundary fault zone of the Niigata plain, central Japan

We have investigated gravity anomalies around the Niigata plain, which is a sedimentary basin in central Japan bounded by mountains, to examine the continuity of subsurface fault structures of a large fault zone—the eastern boundary fault zone of the Niigata plain (EBFZNP). The features of the Bouguer anomaly and its first horizontal and vertical derivatives clearly illustrate the EBFZNP. The s...
