Braid Groups and Left Distributive Operations
An extension of the infinite braid group B∞ exactly describes the left distributivity identities. These identities form a decidable family. The group B∞ is closely connected with the free left distributive structure with one generator, and inherits some order properties with simple topological meaning. A quick comparison algorithm for braid words is also given. The first aim of this paper is to...
متن کاملThe Hurwitz Action and Braid Group Orderings
In connection with the so-called Hurwitz action of homeomorphisms in ramified covers we define a groupoid, which we call a ramification groupoid of the 2sphere, constructed as a certain path groupoid of the universal ramified cover of the 2-sphere with finitely many marked-points. Our approach to ramified covers is based on cosheaf spaces, which are closely related to Fox’s complete spreads. A ...
متن کاملOn finite Thurston-type orderings of braid groups
We give an combinatorial description of a finite Thurston type ordering <T of the positive braid monoid B + n by introducing the C-normal form. The C-normal form can be seen as a generalization of Burckel’s normal form and Dehornoy’s Φ-normal form. Using this description, we determine the order type of well-ordered set (Bn, <T ) for all finite Thurston type orderings <T .
متن کاملEnhanced gauge symmetry and braid group actions
Enhanced gauge symmetry appears in Type II string theory (as well as Fand M-theory) compactified on Calabi–Yau manifolds containing exceptional divisors meeting in Dynkin configurations. It is shown that in many such cases, at enhanced symmetry points in moduli a braid group acts on the derived category of sheaves of the variety. This braid group covers the Weyl group of the enhanced symmetry a...
متن کاملQuivers, Floer Cohomology, and Braid Group Actions
1a. Generalities. This paper investigates the connection between symplectic geometry and those parts of representation theory which revolve around the notion of categorification. The existence of such a connection, in an abstract sense, follows from simple general ideas. The difficult thing is to make it explicit. On the symplectic side, the tools needed for a systematic study of this question ...
