Chronic natural killer cell lymphocytosis: a descriptive clinical study.
We review the clinical manifestations and long-term outlook of patients with chronic natural killer (NK) cell lymphocytosis. After reviewing more than 1,500 peripheral blood lymphoid flow cytometry reports and molecular genetics data from patients with suspected large granular lymphocyte (LGL) proliferation, we identified 10 patients (median age at diagnosis, 60 years; range, 35 to 76 years; ma...
متن کاملNatural killer or natural killer/T cell lineage large granular lymphocytosis associated with dasatinib therapy for Philadelphia chromosome positive leukemia.
Dasatinib, a dual tyrosine kinase inhibitor, is known to modulate or suppress T-cell activation and proliferation. We report a series of 8 patients who developed chronic peripheral lymphocytosis, identified as natural killer cells or natural killer/T-cells based on their large granular lymphocyte morphologies and CD16(+), CD56(+), CD3(-) or CD3(+) immunophenotypic profiles, out of 18 patients r...

A 77-year-old man was admitted for evaluation of pancytopenia. His blood examination revealed hemoglobin 9.7 g/dL, platelet count 149 3 10/L, and white blood cell count 3.2 3 10/L with normal differential. Peripheral blood smear showed red blood cells with anisocytosis, microcytes, and teardrop-shaped cells. There was mild leukopenia with relative monocytosis and normal platelets. Bone marrow b...
متن کاملBone marrow granulomas in mononucleosis.
Two patients with mononucleosis, one due to cytomegalovirus (CMV), and the other due to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), presenting with high fever, malaise and hepatitis, had granulomas in the bone marrow but not in the liver. In patients who have unexplained fever, bone marrow granulomas may be a clue to CMV or EBV infection and need not initially raise the fear of prognostically more severe illness.
