چکیده
Indoor vertical farming is currently a breakthrough horticultural production system. However, for fruit bearing crops such as strawberry, major challenge optimizing light spectral composition to control flowering. We have shown that it possible stimulate flowering and development with different treatments in the day-neutral strawberry accessions Fragaria vesca ‘Yellow Wonder’ YW5AF7 ‘Hawaii-4’. used blue (449 nm) far-red (740 background of sunlight-mimicking photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) under both long- short-day photoperiods. Flower induction was most successful when given during night 24 h. These overruled photoperiodic Both boosted flowering, leading higher yield, minor effects on vegetative plant growth. also evaluated role FvCO FvFT1 using expression analysis RNAi lines, revealed trigger part through conserved cascade. Blue operates FvFT1, partially independently FvCO, while FvCO. Furthermore, transcriptional reporter lines we found ontogenetically tissue-specifically regulated, being exclusively expressed veins older leaves, induced predominantly by light.

Light quality regulates flowering in FvFT1/FvTFL1 dependent manner in the woodland strawberry Fragaria vesca
Control of flowering in the perennial model, the woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca L.), involves distinct molecular mechanisms that result in contrasting photoperiodic flowering responses and growth cycles in different accessions. The F. vesca homolog of TERMINAL FLOWER1 (FvTFL1) functions as a key floral repressor that causes short-day (SD) requirement of flowering and seasonal flowering hab...
متن کاملSurvey of simple sequence repeats in woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca).
The use of simple sequence repeats (SSRs), or microsatellites, as genetic markers has become popular due to their abundance and variation in length among individuals. In this study, we investigated linkage groups (LGs) in the woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca) and demonstrated variation in the abundances, densities, and relative densities of mononucleotide, dinucleotide, and trinucleotide rep...
متن کاملMutation in TERMINAL FLOWER1 reverses the photoperiodic requirement for flowering in the wild strawberry Fragaria vesca.
Photoperiodic flowering has been extensively studied in the annual short-day and long-day plants rice (Oryza sativa) and Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), whereas less is known about the control of flowering in perennials. In the perennial wild strawberry, Fragaria vesca (Rosaceae), short-day and perpetual flowering long-day accessions occur. Genetic analyses showed that differences in their ...
متن کاملFragariaCyc: A Metabolic Pathway Database for Woodland Strawberry Fragaria vesca
FragariaCyc is a strawberry-specific cellular metabolic network based on the annotated genome sequence of Fragaria vesca L. ssp. vesca, accession Hawaii 4. It was built on the Pathway-Tools platform using MetaCyc as the reference. The experimental evidences from published literature were used for supporting/editing existing entities and for the addition of new pathways, enzymes, reactions, comp...
متن کاملCharacterization of FLOWERING LOCUS T1 (FT1) Gene in Brachypodium and Wheat
The phase transition from vegetative to reproductive growth is a critical event in the life cycle of flowering plants. FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) plays a central role in the regulation of this transition by integrating signals from multiple flowering pathways in the leaves and transmitting them to the shoot apical meristem. In this study, we characterized FT homologs in the temperate grasses Brachy...
