Blood Group Characteristics in Rectal Cancer. A study Conducted in a Tertiary Care Center, Srinagar, Kashmir, India

Introduction: Rectal cancer is the third most common in world. Tumors are commonly located rectosigmoid region. There many actors etiology such as age, geographical features, family history, obesity, diet, and history of malignancy. Blood groups one controversial etiologic factors CRC. group antigens, covered by Karl Landsteiner 1901, have been subject numerous studies since 1953, when Aird declared that blood A was associated with stomach cancer. Aim: In present study, we aimed to determine effect characteristics, which play a role Method: We Prospectively reviewed patients who were diagnosed CRC operated our center or at other centers followed postoperatively centers. Age, gender, histologic TNM stage (tumor, lymph node involvement, metastasis), tumor-bearing colonRectal segment, ABO group, Rh antigen examined from patients’ records. Results: Total 60 histopathologically confirmed rectal cancers formed study population. The male female ratio 1.7:1. age varied 16 80 years rectum between 45-64 constituted (29) 48%. However, observed relationship metastasis, liver stage. O rh positive higher stage, also found risk metastasis. Conclusion: As cancer, findings show (+) factor cancers, multifactorial etiology. Further genetic needed.
