Blind Localization of Early Room Reflections Using Phase Aligned Spatial Correlation

Blind estimation of the direction arrival (DOA) and delay room reflections from reverberant sound may be useful for a wide range applications. However, due to high temporal spatial density early their low power compared direct sound, existing methods can only detect small number reflections. This paper presents PHALCOR (PHase ALigned CORrelation), novel method blind DOA single source in that overcomes limitations solutions. is based on signal model which reflection signals are explicitly modeled as delayed scaled copies sound. A phase alignment transform correlation matrices proposed; this separate with different delays, enabling detection localization similar DOAs. It shown DOAs delays estimated by separately analysing left right singular vectors transformed using sparse recovery techniques. An extensive simulation study speaker room, recorded spherical array, demonstrates effectiveness proposed method.
