Blast enhancement from metalized explosives

چکیده

Abstract Experiments are carried out to determine the effects of particle size and mass loading on free-field blast wave from spherical, constant volume metalized explosive charges. The charges comprised gelled nitromethane with uniformly embedded aluminum, magnesium, or glass particles. Particle sizes varied over an order magnitude fractions up 50%. Peak overpressures directly measured within fireball piezoelectric pressure gauges outside inferred by tracking velocity using Rankine–Hugoniot relation. With addition inert particles, peak overpressure is initially mitigated, but then recovers in far field. For reactive particles react promptly oxidizers detonation products release energy as early first few hundred microseconds all cases. enhances field twice values for a charge baseline homogenous explosive. By plotting decay function energy-scaled distance, it that at least half contributes higher loadings, nearly fraction 10%. augmentation not systematic size. This observation implies conventional models combustion depend surface area appropriate describing rapid aluminum reaction occurs extreme conditions products, which influences propagation.

Attenuation of Blast Waves When Detonating Explosives inside Barriers

Noise produced by blast waves can be a problem, especially when an explosion occurs near populated areas. As one means of reducing the blast noise, the explosive is detonated in a pit, a space closed at the bottom and sides, open at the top. A two-dimentional finite difference model was used to simulate such an explosion in a pit and to determine to what extent the blast wave was attenuated. Th...

Quantification of the Air Blast Characteristics of Commercial Explosives

The pressure-time profiles produced by initiation in free-air of four commercial sector explosives covering a range of velocities of detonation are reported. The results indicate that there are no significant differences in the blast wave shapes from the explosives when measured between 5 and 20 m from the initiation point. The dependence of peak overpressure and positive phase impulse on scale...

Analysis of Otologic Injuries Due to Blast Trauma by Handmade Explosives.

Objective The aim of this study is to identify the otologic injuries due to handmade explosive-welded blast travma in the law enforcement officers during the combat operations in the curfew security region and to specify the disorders that Otolaryngology and Head Neck Surgery (OHNS) physicians can face during such operations. Methods Medical records of patients in law enforcement who were ini...

Blast-wave Snapshots from Rhic

I present fits with the so-called blast-wave model to single-particle spectra and HBT correlations from Au+Au collisions at a CMS energy of 130 AGeV. There is only little choice of freeze-out temperature and transverse flow velocity for which the model fits both the identified spectra and the correlation radii just well enough not to be excluded. The observed steep M⊥ dependence of Rside leads ...
