Blade Envelopes Part II: Multiple Objectives and Inverse Design

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Blade envelopes offer a set of data-driven tolerance guidelines for manufactured components based on aerodynamic analysis. In Part I this two-part paper, workflow the formulation blade is described and demonstrated. II, extended to accommodate multiple objectives. This allows engineers prescribe manufacturing that take into account performance criteria. The quality can be correlated with features derived from distribution primal flow quantities over surface. We show these distributions accounted in envelope using vector-valued models discrete surface measurements. Our methods result variables flexible independent control characteristics metrics, similar spirit inverse design methods. augmentations presented paper are demonstrated LS89 turbine blade, focusing loss, mass flow, isentropic Mach number distribution. Finally, we demonstrate how used visualize invariant designs by producing 3D render modeling software.

Inverse Design of Blade Shapes for Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

An inverse design process is applied to determine blade shapes used in vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs). The method is based on the modified Garabedian-McFadden technique that uses the deviation of the pressure distribution or the velocity distribution on the surface from a target pressure or velocity distribution, and modifies the blade surface in order to reduce this deviation. The method ...

Performance improvement of a wind turbine blade using a developed inverse design method

The purpose of this study is to improve the aerodynamic performance of wind turbine blades, using the Ball-Spine inverse design method. The inverse design goal is to calculate a geometry corresponds to a given pressure distribution on its boundaries. By calculating the difference between the current and target pressure distributions, geometric boundaries are modified so that the pressure di...

Model-Set Design for Multiple-Model Method Part II: Examples

This paper presents several examples that illustrate how the theoretical results presented in Part I [9] and several other places can be applied, along with a demonstration of their effectiveness, in the context of MM estimation for Air Traffic Control surveillance. Model-set design and choice examples are presented. The importance and usefulness of modeling true mode and models as random varia...
