Bisexual lures and their comparison with synthetic sex attractants for trapping Orthosia species (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

نویسندگان

چکیده

Two bisexual lures have been developed using iso-amyl alcohol plus acetic acid combined with red wine extract (semisynthetic lure, SBL), or synthetic floral compounds (FLO) for trapping of noctuid moths early spring activity adults. Orthosia species were attracted by the tested semi-synthetic and indicating possible role fermenting liquids in feeding these species. Bisexual generally a lower number individuals than sex attractants given species, except O. cerasi where FLO more attractive attractant. caught both sexes females composed sizable percentage catch. Since traps baited different types provided similar data on ratios, thus presumably reflected actual ratio population. The use lures, especially case spp., can be useful surveys which capture ratios are indispensable, example population dynamic polyandry surveys. In contrast, low densities, attractant seem to still efficient.

Trapping Mocis Spp. (lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Adults with Different Attractants

Experiments conducted in a pasture agroecosystem in central Florida showed that two-component lures composed of acetic acid and 3-methyl-1-butanol placed in Unitraps collected adults of three species of grass looper. Mocis disseverans (Walker), M. latipes (Guenée), and M. marcida (Guenée) males and females were collected from July through November, with peaks from late September through late Oc...

Interaction of acetic acid and phenylacetaldehyde as attractants for trapping pest species of moths (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).

BACKGROUND Phenylacetaldehyde is a flower volatile and attractant for many nectar-seeking moths. Acetic acid is a microbial fermentation product that is present in insect sweet baits. It is weakly attractive to some moths and other insects, but can be additive or synergistic with other compounds to make more powerful insect lures. RESULTS Acetic acid and phenylacetaldehyde presented together ...

Sex attractants for six clearwing and tineid species (Lepidoptera, Sesiidae and Tineidae) from Kazakhstan and Lithuania.

Sex attractants for 3 Sesiidae and 3 Tineidae moth species in West-Kazakhstan and Lithuania were discovered by field screening tests of (3Z,13Z)-, (3E,13Z)- and (2E,13Z)-octadecadien-1-ols and their acetates as well as of some binary mixtures of these compounds. Total amount of chemicals was 0.3 mg/dispenser. Males of Synanthedon serica were attracted by a 5:5 mixture of 3E,13Z-18:OAc and 2E,13...

Trapping noctuid moths with synthetic floral volatile lures

Male and female noctuid moths were collected from plastic bucket traps that were baited with different synthetic floral chemicals and placed in peanut fields. Traps baited with phenylacetaldehyde, benzyl acetate, and a blend of phenylacetaldehyde, benzyl acetate, and benzaldehyde collected more soybean looper moths, Pseudoplusia includens (Walker), than benzaldehyde-baited or unbaited traps. Fe...
