Biphenyl Hydrogenation with Syngas for Hydrogen Purification and Transportation: Performance of Dispersed Catalytic Systems Based on Transition Metal Sulfides

Abstract The feasibility of biphenyl hydrogenation with syngas for hydrogen purification and binding the aim its transportation was demonstrated. Specific features as a promising organic carrier using unsupported Ni–Mo sulfide catalysts were studied. In particular, influence temperature, reaction time, presence water in system, Н 2 /СО gas mixture composition on substrate conversion selectivity respect to products examined. highest maximal uptake are reached at 380°С 6–8 h. dispersed active CO concentration up 50 vol %, H O can act this case an situ source owing occurrence water-gas shift reaction.

A "green" highly selective oxidation of organic sulfides to the corresponding sulfoxides was developed using hydrogen peroxide and glacial acetic acid under transition metal-free and mild conditions.
