Biometric Assessment of Maxillary Anterior Tooth Dimensions in a Hong Kong SAR Population

Objectives: To study the biometric dimensions of upper front teeth in a Hong Kong SAR population including gender differences and compare this with often recommended use Golden Proportion when selecting tooth proportions. Methods: A sample dental casts was obtained from 100 patients: 50 females males an age range 18 to 35 years. The selected based on criteria intact maxillary anterior arches, free imbrications crowding, no restorations or replaced teeth. width length 600 included were measured, together combined for each cast. Analysis width/height ratio, sexual dimorphism, golden proportions statistically analyzed. data analysed by SPSS using one-sample t-test, two-sample paired t-test. Results: Most measurements had normal distribution. Paired t-test revealed that average male incisors is significantly higher than female incisors, while there obvious difference incisor width. mean width/length ratio ranges 0.78 0.87. values apparent prove proportion (GP) 1.618 absent current sample. shows differed some other populations. Conclusions: Based findings research, significant right left sides arch. Length central (CI) greater those lateral (LI) Canine (C) both genders, suggesting CI be dominant tooth. Some dimensions, tend have longer females, male, which confirms tends result absence ratios guideline not applicable either gender.
