Biologically produced sulfur as a novel adsorbent to remove Cd2+ from aqueous solutions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Biological desulfurization processes of landfill gas yield an enormous amount biologically produced S (BPS) as a byproduct. Capability BPS to remove Cd2+ from aqueous solutions was tested and its removal efficiency compared that granular activated carbon (GAC). Kinetics by two-stage process with initial rapid adsorption showing 45% removed within 5 min, followed slower adsorption. Cadmium onto the fitted Langmuir isotherm model maximum capacity (63.3 mg g−1) 1.8 times higher than GAC (36.1 g−1). Thermodynamic parameters showed favorable endothermic. Data XPS proved main mechanism be complexation sulfides in BPS. Results demonstrated can recycled novel adsorbent for wastewater.

Remove of hazardous heterocyclic dyes from aqueous solutions with CuO adsorbent

In this study , Copper oxide as a good and inexpensive adsorbent has been introduced and used for the removal of erythrosine and red carmoisine dyes from several water solutions successfully. The effect of various parameters such as pH, dye concentration, amount of adsorbent, contact time and temperature on removal processing was investigated. Adsorption isothermal data could be interpreted by ...

Nanocrystalline Akaganeite as Adsorbent for Surfactant Removal from Aqueous Solutions

The present study presents the effective use of nanocrystalline akaganeite for the adsorption of an anionic (SDS), a cationic (CTAB), and a nonionic (tween80) surfactant from wastewater. Equilibrium experiments, as well as thermodynamic analysis, were performed. The maximum SDS adsorption occurs at the lowest pH value (5), the opposite is observed for CTAB (pH = 11), while for tween80, the chan...

Mercury removal from aqueous solutions by palm leaves adsorbent

Mercury is a carcinogenic and teratogenic compound that tends to accumulate in water solutions. In this research, the removal of mercury from an aqueous solution was evaluated by using palm leaves. Experiments were performed to study the adsorption efficiency, the effect of the adsorbent amount, the balance time, the adsorbate concentration, and the pH on mercury removal. The experimental appar...
