Biological Indicators for Sustainable exploitation of Chrysichthys walkeri from a Tropical Lake in Ghana, West Africa

The biological indicators of Chrysichthys walkeri (Claroteid catfishes) in lake Volta were investigated for their sustainable management. A total 846 samples collected from the March to December 2020. recorded length fish was analyzed using TropFishR. von Bertalanffy parameters including asymptotic (L∞), growth rate (K), and performance index (Φ) estimated as 28.88 cm, 0.42 per year, 2.54 respectively. Mortality calculated mortality (Z) = 2.56 natural (M) 0.91 year fishing (F) 1.65 year. exploitation (E) 0.64. From study, it concluded that population species C. Lake is overexploited. There need ensure continuous monitoring effort management walkeri.
