Biological and chemical pruning wound protectants reduce infection of grapevine trunk disease pathogens

Grapevine trunk diseases (GTDs) are currently considered some of the most important challenges for viticulture, curtailing vineyard longevity and productivity in nearly every raisin, table wine grape production region California worldwide. Pruning wounds provide main entry point fungal pathogens responsible these diseases; enter following precipitation events. The aim this study was to evaluate efficacy selected chemical experimental biological fungicides protection pruning against two common virulent causing GTDs: Eutypa lata Neofusicoccum parvum . This conducted on sauvignon blanc at UC Davis Department Plant Pathology Field Station. Results showed that several fungicides, notably fungicide Luna Sensation, biofungicide Vintec a combination biofungicides Bio-Tam CrabLife Powder, provided significant least one canker used study. However, majority products tested did not simultaneous control both E. N. pathogens, highlighting continuing challenge controlling GTDs.
