Biohydrogen: A life cycle assessment and comparison with alternative low-carbon production routes in UK

چکیده

This study focuses on the production of hydrogen from municipal solid waste (MSW) for applications in transportation. A life cycle assessment (LCA) was conducted a semi-commercial advanced gasification process Biohydrogen (Bio-H 2 ) MSW to evaluate its environmental impact five categories: Climate Change, Acidification, Eutrophication Fresh Water, Ecotoxicity Freshwater and Photochemical Ozone Formation (human health). The biogenic composition effect carbon sequestration were analysed Bio-H , uncovering net-negative process. counterfactual case incineration further bolsters savings associated . is proven be competitive against alternative productions routes, namely blue (Blue-H produced via steam methane reforming/autothermal reforming coupled with capture storage (CCS), green (Green-H solar offshore wind, respect climate change. These change advantages are shown carry forward context decarbonisation electricity grid mix, as by scenarios taken 2030 ‘net-zero’ 2050. • LCA applied Municipal Solid Waste gasification. pronounced negative footprint CCS. provides valid landfill incineration. outcompetes H routes impact. benefits future grid.

Investigation on life cycle assessment of lead and zinc production

Lead and zinc production is one of the main predisposing factors of excessive greenhouse gases emissions, air pollution and water consumption. In this paper, the environmental problems of lead and zinc production in Calcimin plant are expressed and life cycle assessment of this plant is assessed. The data regarding the amount of induced global warming and pollution, acidification, and depletion...

Life Cycle Assessment of activated carbon production from coconut shells

Activated carbons have excellent performance in a number of process applications. In particular, they appear to have the most favourable characteristics for adsorption processes, thanks to their high porosity and large surface area. However, a comprehensive assessment of the environmental impacts of their manufacturing chain is still lacking. This study evaluates these impacts taking the specif...
