چکیده

Natural product-based herbicides could be the effective alternatives to synthetic chemical for eco-friendly weed management. This research, therefore, was conducted identify phytotoxic properties of Parthenium hysterophorus L., Cleome rutidosperma DC. and Borreria alata (Aubl.) with a view introducing them as tool natural herbicide development. The methanol extracts these plants were examined on germination growth Zea mays Oryza sativa Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench Amaranthus gangeticus f. Spontanea Roshev. (Weedy rice), Echinochloa colona Link., Euphorbia hirta Ageratum conyzoides L. under laboratory glasshouse conditions. A complete randomized design (CRD) five replications block (RCBD) four laid out experiments, respectively. In experiment, three plant 0, 6.25, 12.5, 50, 100 g L−1 tested survival rate, hypocotyl, radicle length eight test species. No seed A. conzyoides, E. hirta, recorded when P. extract applied at 50 L−1. C. had same effect those glasshouse, similar concentrations used in experiments sprayed 2–3 leaf stage grasses 4–6 broadleaf Tested less sensitive B. compared extract. Among weeds crops, conyzoides, mostly inhibited by Based results, most among developing new green agriculture.

The Combined Effect of Biological Control with Plant Competition on the Management of Parthenium Weed (parthenium Hysterophorus L.)

Parthenium hysterophorus L., (Asteraceae) commonly known as parthenium weed, is a highly invasive plant that has become a problematic weed of pasture lands in Australia and many other countries around the world. For the management of this weed, an integrated approach comprising biological control and plant competition strategies was tested in southern central Queensland. Two competitive pasture...

Effectiveness of introduced biocontrol insects on the weed Parthenium hysterophorus (Asteraceae) in Australia.

Six species of insects and a rust fungus have been successfully established for biocontrol of the weed Parthenium hysterophorus L. in Queensland, Australia. Effectiveness of biocontrol insects was evaluated at two properties in Queensland during 1996-97 based on an exclusion experiment using insecticides. Parthenium-infested plots with and without biocontrol insects were sampled at monthly inte...

Malaria is a protozoal disease transmitted by the Anopheles mosquito, caused by minute parasitic protozoa of the genus Plasmodium, which infect human and insect hosts alternatively. It affects over 40% of the worldís population, with 120 million cases reported, and about 2 million deaths annually (1). The P. falciparum variety of the parasite accounts for 80% of cases and 90% of deaths caused b...

Genetic Structure of Invasive Weed Parthenium hysterophorus in Australia and Pakistan

Understanding the patterns of genetic structure in the introduced range of invasive species can help elucidate invasion histories and levels of gene flow among populations. Parthenium weed (Parthenium hysterophorus L.; PW) is native to the Gulf of Mexico and central South America but has become globally invasive during the last three decades and little is known about the genetics of this specie...
