چکیده
This piece of work dealt with the concept ‘biogas upgrading’ or enrichment CH4 contained in a sweetened biogas to proportions and features comparable those synthetic natural gas (SNG). For this, behavior three lab made catalysts (Ni/Al2O3, Ru/Al2O3, Ni–Fe/Al2O3) was tested CO2 methanation reaction (Sabatier reaction) under different feeding conditions (with without methane). In first set experiments (without methane), good catalytic solids validated. All offered similar increasing conversions temperature (range studied from 250 400 °C) at constant WHSV 30 × 103 STPmL·gcat−1·h−1. The selectivity remained close one all cases. Considering their total metallic load, Ru (3.7 wt%)-based catalyst stood out remarkably, TOF values that reached up 5.1 min−1, this being six times higher, than obtained Ni (10.3 wt%) Ni–Fe (7.4–2.1 catalysts, respectively. second (cofeeding also for high correspondence between (and selectivities) both types feeds observed. indicated addition system did not severely modify mechanism, resulting possibility taking advantage process by using H2 produced off-peak electrolysis. order maximize yield, temperatures range 350–375 °C H2:CO2 molar ratio 6:1 were determined as optimal conditions.

Influence of trace substances on methanation catalysts used in dynamic biogas upgrading.
The aim of this work was to study the possible deactivation effects of biogas trace ammonia concentrations on methanation catalysts. It was found that small amounts of ammonia led to a slight decrease in the catalyst activity. A decrease in the catalyst deactivation by carbon formation was also observed, with ammonia absorbed on the active catalyst sites. This was via a suppression of the carbo...
متن کاملMethane activation on Ni and Ru model catalysts
This article reviews research related to the activation of methane by Ni and Ru using model catalysts, highlighting the surface science work carried out using molecular beams methods and elevated pressure reaction studies. Emphasis is placed on connecting the model studies of surface science with the corresponding results obtained on the analogous ‘real world’ catalysts. These combined studies ...
متن کاملNa Promoted Ni/γ-Al2O3 Catalysts Prepared by Solution Combustion Method for Syngas Methanation
Ni-based catalysts with different amounts of Na as promoter from 2 to 6 wt % were prepared by solution combustion method. The catalytic activity was investigated in syngas methanation reaction. Carbon oxides conversion and methane selectivity are greatly influenced by sodium loading. Adding 2 wt% Na remarkably improves catalytic activity and long-term stability, attributed to its smaller mean N...
متن کاملSelective CO Methanation on Ru/TiO2 Catalysts: Role and Influence of Metal−Support Interactions
Aiming at a detailed understanding of the role of metal−support interactions in the selective methanation of CO in CO2-rich reformate gases, we have investigated the catalytic performance of a set of Ru/TiO2 catalysts with comparable Ru loading, Ru particle size, and TiO2 phase composition but very different surface areas (ranging from 20 to 235 m g−1) in this reaction. The activity for CO meth...
