Bioenergy Production through Mono and Co-Digestion of Tomato Residues

چکیده

The agro-industry of tomato generates three types residues: ripe rotten (unfit for consumption) (RT), green (unripe) (GT), and branches including leaves stems (TB). These materials are commonly wasted or used as feed livestock. Energy production through anaerobic digestion is an alternative way to manage simultaneously valorise these materials. Initially, the operating conditions mono were investigated using RT. Thus, a design experiments based on two-level fractional factorial with resolution V was performed determine factors that affect biochemical methane potential (BMP). substrate inoculum ratio (SIR), total volatile solids concentration (VSt), working volume (WV), presence nutrients (Nu), pre-incubation (Inc) investigated. results showed SIR most important factor. maximum BMP RT 297 NmLCH4/gVS = 0.5; tVS 20 g/L; WV 20%; no nutrients. Using optimum conditions, co-digestion mixture approach. substrates GT presented similar values, whereas TB led significantly lower BMP. Indeed, when high concentrations used, significant decrease in observed. Nonetheless, highest achieved 63% + 20% 17% TB, 324 NmLCH4/gVS, corresponding synergetic performance index about 1.20. In general, although BMP, did not impair yield. Overall, residues must be conducted close 0.5 content reaction should kept low (up 20%).

Enhanced Methane Production from Anaerobic Co-Digestion of Wheat Straw and Herbal-Extraction Process Residues

The efficient biosynthesis of methane from renewable biomass resources is discussed in this paper. Herbal-extraction process residues (HPR) are an excellent raw material for anaerobic digestion because of their abundant trace elements and fermentation stability. Anaerobic codigestion of wheat straw with HPR was evaluated at HPR/wheat straw ratios (based on total solids (TS), of wheat straw) of ...

Biogas Production by Co-Digestion of Goat Manure with Three Crop Residues

Goat manure (GM) is an excellent raw material for anaerobic digestion because of its high total nitrogen content and fermentation stability. Several comparative assays were conducted on the anaerobic co-digestion of GM with three crop residues (CRs), namely, wheat straw (WS), corn stalks (CS) and rice straw (RS), under different mixing ratios. All digesters were implemented simultaneously under...

Effect of increasing the organic loading rate on the co-digestion and mono-digestion of cattle slurry and maize.

Co-digestion of cattle slurry and maize has been shown to have benefits for both, improving the biogas yield of the slurry and stability of digestion of the maize. The effect of increasing the total loading rate from 3 to 6 g VS l(-1) day(-1) on the co-digestion of cattle slurry and maize, mixed at equal volatile solids volumes, was investigated in laboratory-scale continuously stirred digester...

Evaluation of Integrated Anaerobic Digestion and Hydrothermal Carbonization for Bioenergy Production

Lignocellulosic biomass is one of the most abundant yet underutilized renewable energy resources. Both anaerobic digestion (AD) and hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) are promising technologies for bioenergy production from biomass in terms of biogas and HTC biochar, respectively. In this study, the combination of AD and HTC is proposed to increase overall bioenergy production. Wheat straw was an...
