Bioconversion of food waste to volatile fatty acids: Impact of microbial community, pH and retention time

نویسندگان

چکیده

Bio-based production of materials from waste streams is a pivotal aspect in circular economy. This study aimed to investigate the influence inoculum (three different sludge taken anaerobic digestors), pH (5 & 10) and retention time on total volatile fatty acids (VFAs), VFA composition as well microbial community during digestion food waste. The highest was ?22000 ± 1036 mg COD/L 12927 1029 day 15 using acclimated at 10 5, respectively. Acetic acid dominant batch reactors with initial alkaline conditions, whereas both propionic acetic were products acidic condition. Firmicutes, Chloroflexi Bacteroidetes had relative abundance reactors. generation positively correlated Firmicutes.

A Review on Impact of E-waste on Soil Microbial Community and Ecosystem Function

The ever increasing pile-up of electronic waste in dumping sites, especially in developing countries such as China, Pakistan, India and several African countries, might have caused a significant alteration in the microbial community of the contaminated sites. This change in the microbial population may have significant impact to the soil ecology function. The major pollutants of electronic wast...

Effect of galactan on selected microbial populations and pH and volatile fatty acids in the ileum of the weanling pig.

Studies were conducted to determine the effect of galactan on the colonization of E. coli and lactobacilli and ileal pH and volatile fatty acid production in the digestive tract of the weanling pig. In each of two replicate trials, eight 21-d-old nursing pigs were cannulated in the terminal ileum. After a 7-d recovery period, the pigs were weaned and randomly assigned to two test diets: 1) a co...
