Bioactive compounds of strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo L.) genotypes grown in the East Black Sea and Marmara regions

The research was carried out to determine the total phenolics, flavonoids and antioxidant activity (according DPPH FRAP assays) of 21 strawberry tree genotypes grown naturally in Piraziz (Giresun, East Black Sea) Gebze (Kocaeli, Marmara regions) districts. A wide variation determined between terms properties investigated. In examined, phenolics from 528 985 mg GAE 100 g-1, while detected 134 QE g-1. According tests 2.1 15.5 mmol TE g-1 20.5 50.9 respectively. principal component analysis result, first two components explained 88.1% variation. PC1 related (both FRAP), PC2 associated with flavonoids. As a G-14 genotype had remarkable results This genotype, which stands beneficial substances on human health, is thought can be used as genetic material future breeding programs.
