چکیده

This study aims to determine the chemical and physical composition antibacterial activity of glasswort. Soxhlet extraction S. europaea was performed using Hexane analyzed by Gas chromatographymass spectrometry. Alpha-tocopherol content analysed Liquid chromatography with tandem mass The elemental analysis investigated inductively coupled plasma crystallographic texture powder samples were determined X-ray diffraction. Minimum Inhibition Concentrations inhibition zones extracts spectrophotometric broth microdilution disc diffusion methods, respectively, against 4 bacteria (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus) 2 fungi (Candida albicans, C. parapsilosis). quantity oil found be 2.1±0.3mg/100 g 15.15 %, respectively. detected minerals also as Na 447, Mg 51.98, K 45.86, Ca 14.27 ppm. highest minimum concentration 0.9 mg/mL E. coli in methanol extract (p<0.05). mean diameter 3.8 mm for B. subtilis As a result, can used potential bioactive antimicrobial agents pharmaceutical cosmetics applications.

The growth and accumulation of osmotic solutes of the halophyte common glasswort (Salicornia europaea) under salinity conditions

A halophyte, common glasswort (Salicornia europaea L.), showed no phytotoxic or deficiency symptom at 100 and 300 mM NaCl, whereas plant growth was stunted at 0, 500, and 700 mM NaCl. In addition, the water content was lower within the shoots at 0 mM NaCl, as compared with the range of NaCl treatments. Under NaCl treatment, Naþ levels increased in the shoot and the root, whereas the levels of o...

Oil and Fatty Acids Composition in Glasswort (Salicornia Fruticosa) Seeds

glasswort (Salicornia fruticosa) is the most widely distributed species of the perennial genus of glasswort in Egypt and it shows great biotechnological potential as a salt-water irrigated crop. Oil analysis of Salicornia fruticosa seeds was carried out in the current study. Chloroform and methanol mixture (2:1 v:v) extraction yielded maximum oil content from seeds (28.59%). The physical and ch...

Four New Dicaffeoylquinic Acid Derivatives from Glasswort (Salicornia herbacea L.) and Their Antioxidative Activity.

Four new dicaffeoylquinic acid derivatives and two known 3-caffeoylquinic acid derivatives were isolated from methanol extracts using the aerial parts of Salicornia herbacea. The four new dicaffeoylquinic acid derivatives were established as 3-caffeoyl-5-dihydrocaffeoylquinic acid, 3-caffeoyl-5-dihydrocaffeoylquinic acid methyl ester, 3-caffeoyl-4-dihydrocaffeoylquinic acid methyl ester, and 3,...

Salicornia europaea L. regulates salinity stress through production of saponins and antioxidant compounds

Abstract Salicornia europaea L. is a common halophytic plant species distributed in many saline soils and habitats, including margins of many wetlands. Salicornia europaea grows around Mighan Wetland, a natural desert ecosystem in central Iran with fluctuating water levels due to constant heat and severe wind throughout the year. Although, aspects of biology and ecology of halophytes growi...
