Oil palm shell (OPS) is biomass with high carbon and hydrogen content, so it has the potential to produce renewable energy through thermochemical method. Pyrolysis a relatively inexpensive method that continuously converts into valuable gas, bio-oil, char products. Bio-oil used directly fuel boilers furnaces or oil. This article reviews pyrolysis process of from oil shells, discussing operating parameters influence upgrading bio-oil. review shows relationship between composition (cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin) bio-oil yield. The water content in raw material needs be controlled at around 10%. optimum particle size closely related biomass's natural structure reactor type. higher ash fixed lower temperature for 450-550 ºC.
