Bilateral Frosted Branch Angiitis in Anti-phospholipid Antibody Syndrome

Purpose: We report a case of bilateral frosted branch angiitis caused by anti-phospholipid antibody syndrome.Case summary: A 60-year-old female complained worsening vitreous floaters and decreased visual acuity in both eyes. The initial best-corrected (BCVA) was 0.8 the right eye 0.05 left. On slit-lamp examination, inflammatory findings were observed anterior chamber body fundus vascular sheathing shape posterior pole peripheral retina Optical coherence tomography indicated macular edema left eye. Staining leakage dye along eyes with fluorescein angiography. suspicion panuveitis, we conducted blood test started drops oral steroid therapy. However, inflammation, edema, increased; thus, proceeded systemic tests at 8-week intervals; lupus anticoagulant negative but anticardiolipin anti- ß2 glycoprotein-I positive. diagnosed patient syndrome. During follow-up period, BCVA remained steady 0.5 0.3 eye, without symptom recurrence.Conclusions: Bilateral angiitis, rare disease, is known to respond well treatment. if accompanied primary syndrome, as presented, it may have an atypical prognosis.
