چکیده
Soumission à Episciences Computers and electronic machines in businesses consume a significant amount of electricity, releasing carbon dioxide (CO2), which contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. Energy efficiency is pressing concern IT systems, ranging from mobile devices large servers data centers, order be more environmentally responsible. In meet the growing demands awareness excessive energy consumption, many initiatives have been launched on for big processing covering components, software applications. Query optimizers are one most power consuming components DBMS. They can modified take into account energetical cost query plans by using energy-based models with aim reducing consumption computer systems. this paper, we study, describe evaluate design three whose values sensitive parameters determined Nonlinear Regression Random Forests techniques. To end, study depth operating principle selected DBMS present an analysis comparing performance time typical queries TPC benchmark. We perform extensive experiments physical testbed based PostreSQL, MontetDB Hyrise systems workloads generatedusing our chosen benchmark validate proposal. New Database Architectures: Steps towards Big Data Processing
Both research and practice indicate that traditional universal DBMS architecture hardly satisfies new trends in data processing, particularly in the context of cloud computing and Big Data problems. New database architectures and their basic features will be described, particularly their horizontal scalability and concurrency model, which is mostly weaker than ACID transactions in relational SQ...
متن کاملQuery Processing on Smart SSDs
Data storage devices are getting smarter. Smart flash storage devices (a.k.a. Smart SSDs) are on the horizon and package a small programmable computer inside the device. Thus, users can run code closer to the data right inside the SSD, on the “other” side of the I/O bus. The focus of this paper is on exploring the opportunities and challenges associated with exploiting this functionality of Sma...
متن کاملSTEPS towards Cache-resident Transaction Processing
Online transaction processing (OLTP) is a multibillion dollar industry with high-end database servers employing state-of-the-art processors to maximize performance. Unfortunately, recent studies show that CPUs are far from realizing their maximum intended throughput because of delays in the processor caches. When running OLTP, instruction-related delays in the memory subsystem account for 25 to...
متن کاملAn Ontology connected to several data repositories: query processing steps
The great expansion of communication networks has made available to users a huge number of heterogeneous and autonomous data repositories that present different structures/organizations, query languages and data semantics. In that context it is clear that new information retrieval techniques with a strategy that focuses on information content and semantics are needed. We propose to use domain s...
متن کاملFirst Steps Towards an Event-Based Infrastructure for Smart Things
In this paper we examine requirements for an infrastructure that supports implementation and deployment of smart things in the real world. We describe a case study (RFID Chef) where kitchen items and ingredients, equipped with remotely accessible electronic tags, drive an interactive context-aware recipe finder through the use of an event-based infrastructure.
