چکیده

We consider planar and spatial autonomous Newtonian systems with Coriolis forces study the existence of branches periodic orbits emanating from equilibria. investigate both degenerate nondegenerate situations. While Lyapunov's center theorem applies locally in nondegenerate, nonresonant context, our result provides a global answer which is significant also some cases. apply abstract results to problem Celestial Mechanics. More precisely, three-dimensional version Restricted Triangular Four-Body Problem possibly different primaries show at least seven stationary points.

Bifurcation from relative equilibria of . . .

We consider a finite-dimensional, typically noncompact Riemannian manifold M with a differentiable proper action of a possibly noncompact Lie group G. We describe G-equivariant flows in a tubular neighborhood U of a relative equilibrium G ·u0, u0 ∈ M , with compact isotropy H of u0, by a skew product flow ġ = ga(v), v̇ = φ(v). Here g ∈ G, a ∈ alg(G). The vector v is in a linear slice V to the gr...

Adiabatic Limits of Closed Orbits for Some Newtonian Systems in R

We deal with a Newtonian system like ẍ+V (x) = 0. We suppose that V : R → R possesses an (n− 1)-dimensional compact manifold M of critical points, and we prove the existence of arbitrarity slow periodic orbits. When the period tends to infinity these orbits, rescaled in time, converge to some closed geodesics on M .

Bifurcation of relative equilibria in mechanical systems with symmetry

The relative equilibria of a symmetric Hamiltonian dynamical system are the critical points of the so-called augmented Hamiltonian. The underlying geometric structure of the system is used to decompose the critical point equations and construct a collection of implicitly defined functions and reduced equations describing the set of relative equilibria in a neighborhood of a given relative equil...

Newtonian Forces

Newtonian forces are pushes and pulls, possessing magnitude and direction, that are exerted (in the first instance) by objects, and which cause (in particular) motions. I defend Newtonian forces against the four best reasons for denying or doubting their existence. A running theme in my defense of forces will be the suggestion that Newtonian Mechanics is a special science, and as such has certa...

Decoherence of Macroscopic Closed Systems within Newtonian Quantum Gravity

A theory recently proposed by the author aims to explain decoherence and the thermodynamical behaviour of closed systems within a conservative, unitary, framework for quantum gravity by assuming that the operators tied to the gravitational degrees of freedom are unobservable and equating physical entropy with matter-gravity entanglement entropy. Here we obtain preliminary results on the extent ...
