Bifurcation and fission in the liquid drop model: A phase-field approach

چکیده
The liquid drop model, originally used to model atomic nuclei, describes the competition between surface tension and Coulomb force. To help understand how a ball loses stability becomes prone fission, we calculate minimum energy path of fission process study bifurcation branch conjectured by Bohr Wheeler. We then present two-dimensional analog for comparison. Our is conducted with numerical simulations via phase-field approach.
