Beyond the two-infall model

چکیده

Context. The recent Gaia Data Release 3 (DR3) represents an unparalleled revolution in Galactic archaeology, providing numerous radial velocities and chemical abundances for millions of stars as well all-sky coverage. Aims We present a new evolution model the disc components (high- low- α sequence stars) designed to reproduce abundance ratios provided by General Stellar Parametriser-spectroscopy module DR3 constrained detailed star formation (SF) histories both thick thin inferred from previous releases. Methods. Sophisticated modelling based on releases have found evidence narrow episodes enhanced SF time. Additionally, indicated presence young (massive) that show impoverishment several elements. In order these observables, we propose which is generated two distinct infall episodes. Hence, this study compare with predictions three-infall high- components. Results proposed nicely reproduces main features ratio [X/Fe] versus [M/H] (X=Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, ) different age bins considered Moreover, most gas – started ∼2.7 Gyr ago allowed us predict accurately population has experienced impoverishment. Conclusions. extended models APOGEE APOKASC data abundances. To aim, better trace (i) (ii) history

The Chemical Evolution of the Galaxy: the two-infall model

In this paper we present a new chemical evolution model for the Galaxy which assumes two main infall episodes for the formation of halo-thick disk and thin disk, respectively. We do not try to take into account explicitly the evolution of the halo since our model is better suited for computing the evolution of the disk (thick plus thin) but we implicitly assume that the timescale for the format...

A Model For Infall Around Virialized Halos

Motivated by the recent direct detection of cosmological gas infall, we develop an analytical model for calculating the mean density profile around an initial overdensity that later forms a dark matter halo. We account for the problem of peaks within peaks; when considering a halo of a given mass we ensure that this halo is not a part of a larger virialized halo. For halos that represent high-s...

The Cusp/Core problem and the Secondary Infall Model

We study the cusp/core problem using a secondary infall model (SIM) that takes into account the effect of ordered and random angular momentum, dynamical friction and baryons adiabatic contraction. The model is applied to structures on galactic scales (normal and dwarfs spiral galaxies) and on clusters of galaxies scales. Our analysis suggest that angular momentum and dynamical friction are able...

1 Studying Infall

The study of protostellar collapse or infall has proven unusually difficult and controversial. Some historical context will be provided, against which recent advances can be measured. We now have a substantial number of objects with signatures that can be interpreted in terms of collapse, but a number of issues remain. One issue is the effect of chemical variations, especially depletion in the ...
