Bending Performance of Prestressed Continuous Glulam Beams

چکیده
The limited transferring moment capability of Glulam (glued laminated wood) joints results in insufficient joint stiffness. Therefore, most the connections are hinged joints. Based on previous studies, one novel end-connection device was proposed to form prestressed continuous beams. beams were composed low-relaxation steel bars, deviator block, anchorage device, and apparatus. These bars tensioned by block exert prestress. Then, 18 two simply supported subject bending tests explore impact reinforcement ratio prestress from aspects such as failure modes, bearing capacity, load-deflection relationship, load-strain relationship. show that, given same level, compared with a 1.92%, capacity 3.84% 5.76% is increased 20.3%–29.4% 30.51%–36.36%, respectively. Given ratios, without prestressing, prestressing force 7 kN 14 2.39%–10.14% 6.49%–13.26%, In addition, beams, 40%, deformation reduced 13%. beam, performance can be improved effectively.

Moment-resisting connections in glulam beams
This paper describes an experimental investigation into the use of steel bars bonded into glulam timber beams with epoxy resins in order to provide moment-resisting joints between glulam beams and steel supports. The objective of this research was to provide information about the bending and shear strength of such connections. Past research has investigated the use of steel rods epoxy bonded in...
متن کاملFire resistance of FRP reinforced glulam beams
Thin laminates made of high-strength pultruded fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) are increasingly being used to reinforce glue-laminated timber (glulam) beams, creating a new composite glulam (FRP glulam) significantly stronger in bending than a conventional (unreinforced) glulam of equal size. Large timber members have long been recognized for maintaining structural integrity in fires and this p...
متن کاملShear Resistance of Glulam Beams with Cracks
A reduction of the shear resistance was introduced with the crack factor kcr in Eurocode 5. The factor 0.67 corresponds to cracks that have a depth of 1/3 of the beam width, which rarely occurs under normal conditions. The glulam industry in Sweden has not observed any problems or shear failures due to cracks with previously used shear values. Hence the design requirements do not seem reasonabl...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of the Bending Properties of Cathay Poplar Glulam
This paper presents the formulae and finite element analysis models for predicting the Modulus of Elastic (MOE) and Modulus of Rupture (MOR) of Cathay poplar finger-jointed glulam. The formula of the MOE predicts the MOE of Cathay poplar glulam glued with one-component polyurethane precisely. Three formulae are used to predict the MOR, and Equation (12) predicts the MOR of Cathay poplar glulam ...
متن کاملNon - linear analysis of externally prestressed concrete beams
In an external prestressing system, there is no strain compatibility between the cable and the concrete at every cross-section, the increment of cable strain must be evaluated by taking into account the whole structure, rather than performing the calculation at each section, independently. In this study, a method for the calculation of cable strain, which is based on the deformation compatibili...
