Bending Actuation of Hydrogels through Rotation of Light‐Driven Molecular Motors

چکیده
The unidirectional rotation of chemically crosslinked light-driven molecular motors is shown to progressively shift the swelling equilibrium hydrogels. concentration and initial strand density polymer network are key parameters modulate macroscopic contraction material, both can be tuned using chains different weights. These findings led design optimized hydrogels revealing a half-time approximately 5 min. Furthermore, under inhomogeneous stimulation, local event was exploited useful bending actuators with an energy output 400 times higher than for previously reported self-assembled systems involving rotary motors. In present configuration, we measure that single motor lift up loads 200 its own weight.

Brownian molecular motors driven by rotation-translation coupling.
We investigated three models of Brownian motors which convert rotational diffusion into directed translational motion by switching on and off a potential. In the first model a spatially asymmetric potential generates directed translational motion by rectifying rotational diffusion. It behaves much like a conventional flashing ratchet. The second model utilizes both rotational diffusion and drif...

Molecular motors perform active movements along cytoskeletal filaments and drive the traffic of organelles and other cargo particles in cells. In contrast to the macroscopic traffic of cars, however, the traffic of molecular motors is characterized by a finite walking distance (or run length) after which a motor unbinds from the filament along which it moves. Unbound motors perform Brownian mot...
متن کاملKinetic analysis of the rotation rate of light-driven unidirectional molecular motors.
The combination of a photochemical and a thermal equilibrium in overcrowded alkenes, which is the basis for unidirectional rotation of light-driven molecular rotary motors, is analysed in relation to the actual average rotation rates of such structures. Experimental parameters such as temperature, concentration and irradiation intensity could be related directly to the effective rates of rotati...
