چکیده

Water utilities across the globe are concerned with inspection and replacement of buried metallic water pipes due to corrosion-related structural damages. Internal pipe linings commonly used as a renewal method improve strength they regarded be less expensive alternative costly time-consuming replacements. However, also prone failure well. Therefore, authorities regularly monitor lining performance, where defect evolution over long period time is an important parameter note. It requires accurate in-pipe robot localization technology. In this article, we propose novel for tag mapping that uses battery-free ultra high frequency (UHF)-radio-frequency identification (RFID) sensor wireless signals. utilizes signal approach in combination tailored pose-graph simultaneous (SLAM) algorithm. Evaluation results field-extracted sample from Sydney Water’s distribution network show proposed capable localizing within 2.5 cm accuracy 50-m equivalent unknown UHF-RFID distribution. The outperformed other reported similar work literature.

UHF RFID Reader Antenna

This chapter addresses the various design issues, requirements, and specifications in designing reader antennas for UHF RFID applications. In a typical UHF system, the RFID reader antennas are geography specific; that is, there are different antennas for different geography, namely North America, Europe, et cetera. The discussion on the design challenges and performance expectations lead to a n...

Multi Robot Object-Based SLAM

We propose a multi robot SLAM approach that uses 3D objects as landmarks for localization and mapping. The approach is fully distributed in that the robots only communicate during rendezvous and there is no centralized server gathering the data. Moreover, it leverages local computation at each robot (e.g., object detection and object pose estimation) to reduce the communication burden. We show ...

Performance benchmarks for passive UHF RFID tags

This paper describes the first comprehensive benchmark suite for passive UHF RFID tags. These benchmarks give good indications as to how well RFID products will work in “real world” scenarios. We present benchmarks and give some experimental results, as well as key insights that these benchmarks have revealed about the nature of current UHF RFID tags on the market.

Circularly Polarized Tag Antenna for UHF RFID

Design of a circularly polarized tag antenna for UHF RFID applications is discussed and a planar tag antenna, based on series connected loop topology is designed. Simulation based design process for axial ratio optimization is discussed and the simulation and measurement results for the proposed tag antenna are presented.

Wideband Adaptive Isolator for UHF RFID Reader

This paper introduces a wideband adaptive isolator for UHF RFID reader with a minimum component count. The operation of the device is based on a reflection from a variable load, which is connected to a port of a hybrid coupler. The other ports are connected to the RX, TX and Antenna ports of the reader. The isolator provides an isolation of 50 dB from TX to RX at 800 MHz 1 GHz band, covering al...
