Bathymetric Retrieval Selectively Using Multiangular High-Spatial-Resolution Satellite Imagery

This article introduces multiangular imagery into physics-based bathymetry in order to compensate for the shortage of bathymetric spectral bands caused by low resolution current high-spatial-resolution satellite multispectral imagery. The focus is propose a selective retrieval method eliminate negative effect nonoptimal image data on depth imagery-based bathymetry. elimination implemented excluding pixels every individual from retrieval. An empirical criterion designed determination pixels. proposed can use selectively, avoiding situations where results whole are poorer than that part images. was tested two typical areas within Xisha (Paracel) Islands South China Sea using two-angle WorldView-2 test showed derived depths (i.e., data) provided better fit validation those entirety both underestimation images also improved some extent.
